L`ancien champion bantamweight de l`UFC, Aljamain Sterling, a exprimé de vifs doutes quant à la gravité de la blessure à l`œil de Tom Aspinall. Cet incident est survenu lors de son récent combat contre Ciryl Gane, suite à un coup accidentel.
Sterling a remis en question la réaction immédiate d`Aspinall après l`incident, suggérant une possible exagération de la douleur. Il a notamment déclaré :
« Beaucoup pourraient s`attendre à ce que je prenne le parti de Tom, mais ce n`est pas le cas. J`ai beaucoup de questions. À en juger par les images diffusées après le combat, tout semblait aller. Aspinall était en train de perdre ce combat. Et il a immédiatement dit : `Je ne vois rien.` On ne peut pas dire ça. Nous savons que c`est le coup de grâce de tout combat. Si vous voulez utiliser les cinq minutes complètes pour essayer de continuer, vous ne pouvez pas prononcer de tels mots. Cela me fait sérieusement me demander si c`était vraiment aussi douloureux qu`il l`a dit ? »

Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has voiced significant skepticism regarding the severity of Tom Aspinall`s eye injury, which occurred during his recent bout against Ciryl Gane after an accidental poke.
Sterling questioned Aspinall`s immediate reaction following the incident, suggesting it might have been an exaggerated response to the pain. He notably stated:
“Many might expect me to side with Tom, but that’s not the case. I have a lot of questions. Judging by the footage released after the fight, everything seemed fine. Aspinall was losing this fight. And he immediately claimed, `I can`t see anything.` You simply cannot say that. We know that such a statement is the death knell for any fight. If you intend to use the full five minutes to try and continue, you must avoid uttering such words. This makes me seriously wonder if it was truly as painful as he claimed?”
Sterling`s comments raise questions about the validity of the injury and how Aspinall`s reaction might have influenced the perception and outcome of the fight.
