Conor Benn showcased a dominant performance, convincingly defeating Regis Prograis in the co-main event of the Fury vs. Makhmudov card on Saturday night.
From the outset, Benn established control, appearing to stagger Prograis with a powerful right hand late in the first round. This early blow seemed to affect Prograis heading into the second round, where he appeared unsteady on his feet.
Benn continued to dictate the pace in the third round. However, Prograis found some success in the fourth, landing several sharp jabs and opening a cut on Benn with a southpaw left. Despite this, Benn appeared to win the round after landing a counter right and utilizing his jab effectively in the latter half of the stanza.
The subsequent rounds were closely contested, with both fighters having their moments. Nevertheless, despite Prograis’s efforts in the latter half of the bout, Benn maintained a tactical advantage over the former two-time world champion.
With six minutes remaining, Benn focused on attacking Prograis’s body in the penultimate round. Although Prograis attempted to retaliate with a three-punch combination, Benn responded effectively in close quarters. As Prograis tried to clinch, Benn unleashed powerful shots, securing another round and further extending his lead on the scorecards.
Entering the tenth and final round, Prograis desperately sought a knockout finish. However, this opportunity never materialized as Benn began the round with an aggressive flurry. Prograis landed a left hand and a jab, but it wasn’t enough, as Benn sealed the victory with a final left to Prograis’s body.
