Malick Fofana, the 20-year-old Belgian winger, has reportedly decided to remain with Olympique Lyonnais this summer. Despite significant interest from several Premier League clubs, Fofana ultimately did not find a transfer that matched his career ambitions.
Among the English clubs, Liverpool was reportedly monitoring Fofana as a potential target, especially if Federico Chiesa were to depart. Nottingham Forest had even reached an agreement on a transfer fee with Lyon, but Fofana chose not to make the move. Chelsea also showed interest at one point. Domestically, Olympique de Marseille had also explored a potential transfer earlier in the window.
Fofana recently played a crucial role in Lyon`s 3-0 victory over promoted side Metz, scoring the opening goal and contributing to OL`s second win of the 2025-2026 season.
In the previous season, Fofana made 29 appearances in Ligue 1, netting five goals. He also demonstrated his talent in the UEFA Europa League, scoring six goals in 10 continental matches.
