Mol/Sørum Mènent l’Europe vers Quatre Médailles à Montréal

European teams achieved remarkable success at the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite event in Montréal, securing a total of four medals as the tournament concluded on Sunday. The continent showcased its strength, particularly in the men`s competition where European duos swept all podium spots, and also made it to the women`s gold medal match.

Norwegian superstars Anders Mol and Christian Sørum, fresh from their record fifth CEV EuroBeachVolley title, continued their dominant run by claiming victory in Montréal for the second consecutive year. They triumphed over the rising Swedish stars Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson in straight sets (21-19, 21-13).

Olympic champions Mol and Sørum lead the all-European men`s podium.

The men`s bronze medal match was an exciting all-European affair, pitting the reigning world champions Ondřej Perušič and David Schweiner of Czechia against the reigning Olympic champions David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig of Sweden. The Czech pair emerged victorious in a hard-fought tie-breaker (14-21, 22-20, 20-18).

In the women`s tournament, the 2024 European champions Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann from Germany advanced to the gold medal match. However, they were ultimately defeated by the home team, Canadian Olympic silver medalists Brandie Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes, who secured the title with a 2-0 victory (21-15, 22-20).

Müller and Tillmann share the podium with teams from hosts Canada and Brazil.

Latvia`s two-time European champions Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova also contended for a bronze medal but were outplayed by Brazil`s Olympic champions Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos, finishing fourth after a straight-sets loss (21-14, 21-16).

The Beach Pro Tour Elite event will next move to Europe, with the German city of Hamburg set to host the world`s top teams from August 27-31.

Les équipes européennes ont connu un succès remarquable lors de l`événement Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite à Montréal, décrochant un total de quatre médailles à la conclusion du tournoi dimanche. Müller et Tillmann partagent le podium avec les équipes du Canada et du Brésil.

Les doubles championnes d`Europe lettonnes Tina Graudina et Anastasija Samoilova ont également concouru pour une médaille de bronze mais ont été surpassées par les championnes olympiques brésiliennes Eduarda ‘Duda’ Lisboa et Ana Patrícia Ramos, terminant quatrièmes après une défaite en deux sets (21-14, 21-16).

Le prochain événement Beach Pro Tour Elite se déroulera en Europe, la ville allemande de Hambourg accueillant les meilleures équipes du monde du 27 au 31 août.
