Sékou Mara rejoint l`AJ Auxerre en prêt pour la saison
L`AJ Auxerre a officialisé l`arrivée en prêt pour une saison de l`attaquant de 23 ans, Sékou Mara, en provenance du RC Strasbourg Alsace.
S`il était resté à Strasbourg, le temps de jeu de Mara aurait probablement été limité. Emanuel Emegha, qui porte désormais le brassard de capitaine, est un titulaire indiscutable, et Joaquín Panichelli a également fait forte impression depuis son arrivée au club.
Auxerre avait manifesté son intérêt pour l`ancien joueur de Southampton avant la clôture du mercato lundi. Mara avait également été lié à des clubs en Belgique et en Suisse, où les fenêtres de transfert étaient encore ouvertes.
Suite aux départs de Theo Bair et Ado Onaiwu, Auxerre avait un besoin urgent de renforcer son attaque. Le transfert de Mara est un prêt sec de Strasbourg, sans option d`achat. Cette opération est rendue possible grâce à la règle du « joker » en France, qui permet aux clubs de recruter un joueur d`une autre équipe française en dehors de la période officielle du mercato.
Sékou Mara Joins AJ Auxerre on Season-Long Loan
AJ Auxerre has officially announced the season-long loan acquisition of 23-year-old forward Sékou Mara from RC Strasbourg Alsace.
Remaining with Strasbourg, Mara`s playing time would likely have been scarce. Emanuel Emegha, now wearing the captain`s armband, is a regular starter, and Joaquín Panichelli has also made a strong impression since joining the club.
Auxerre had expressed interest in the former Southampton player prior to Monday`s transfer deadline. Mara had also been linked with clubs in Belgium and Switzerland, where their respective transfer windows were still open.
Following the departures of Theo Bair and Ado Onaiwu, Auxerre urgently needed to reinforce their attacking options. Mara`s move is a straightforward loan from Strasbourg, without an option to buy. This transfer is made possible by the French `joker` rule, which permits clubs to sign one player from another French team outside of the official transfer window.
