Arman Tsarukyan has indicated he will not fulfill his role as backup fighter for the UFC White House main event. Despite being named the official backup by UFC CEO Dana White for the lightweight title unification bout between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250, Tsarukyan plans to participate in a wrestling match.
Tsarukyan is scheduled to compete in a wrestling match for Real American Freestyle (RAF) on June 13, the day before the UFC event at the White House. He has been actively competing in wrestling events under the RAF banner, with this upcoming match against Tony Ferguson being his sixth appearance for the promotion since January.
During a recent press conference for RAF 09, Tsarukyan stated his intention to prioritize his wrestling commitment, believing the Topuria-Gaethje fight will proceed as planned and his services as a backup will not be required. He is also slated to face Colby Covington at RAF 11 on July 18.
Tsarukyan’s last UFC appearance was in November at UFC Doha, where he secured a second-round submission victory over Dan Hooker. He currently holds a five-fight win streak within the UFC, with an overall record of 10-2 in the promotion.
